Malmerendas Boutique Lodging
Sophisticated Design in Central Porto
Malmerendas Boutique Lodging perfectly combines Porto’s rich history with contemporary and comfortable design. Set in a late 19th century house, the tasteful renovation maintains the traditional construction of the Portuguese bourgeoisie. An elegant cubed patterns run through the building’s design, flowing through the halls and staircases and reaching each of the uniquely designed suites.
Original wooden staircases wind up each floor, a circular skylight lighting the way. Minimalist pieces of rose gold decorate the walls, with modern lights adding a contemporary touch. Neutral colours create a sense of calm, whilst plush fabrics and attention to details bring a homely feel.
Once home to livestock, the ground floor retains all the character of original wooden beams and stone walls and floor. A roaring log fire warms the space, and unique pieces of furniture invite you to relax with a good book. Ceiling to floor windows open out onto a private garden, which catches the afternoon sun and offers the perfect place to unwind. A selection of fine local wines, cheeses and delicacies are available to order in house, offering the best of Porto without the need to leave the building.
Each suite has been lovingly designed and decorated to perfection. Unique pieces of furniture are thoughtfully combined to blend old with new and create something truly special. The cube pattern and rose gold highlights continue throughout the house.
A continental breakfast breakfast is served in the living space downstairs, with table service and a garden view. Fresh fruit, bread rolls and pastries are served, with a selection of yogurts and cereals. Freshly baked pastel de natas are perfectly paired with fresh coffee and squeezed juice. In the cooler months you can sit comfortably by the fire, and throughout summer you can choose to sit outside.
Unlike most hotels, Malmerendas Boutique Lodging offers a personal welcome complete with local tips on where to go and what to see. In addition to suggesting the perfect walking route around Porto, we were recommended a local Portuguese restaurant which we likely wouldn’t have stumbled across otherwise. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay that will make your Porto experience one to remember, Malmerendas Boutique Lodging is the place.
