The Island Hideout

Off The Grid in Koh Yao Noi, Thailand

Luxury to some means good air conditioning, strong WiFi and someone waiting on you hand and foot. To others it is freedom, being surrounded by nature, and having the chance to become a part of something truly special.

The Island Hideout in Koh Yao Noi is the perfect place for those who seek peace and tranquility but can’t say no to good adventure. Trust in the process as you creep along the bumpy dirt road, uphill and away from everything else on the island. You realise as soon as you arrive that you’ve made the right decision… Welcome to paradise.

Take off you shoes and turn off your phone. it’s time to reset, reconnect, and rejuvenate. There’s an energy that fills the air at Island Hideout, a peaceful yet invigorating energy. The fresh air, the unbeatable views over jungle to the ocean, and being surrounded purely by nature. In a world of concrete and technology, it’s a blessing to be free in this way.

Four incredible tree-houses are beautifully designed and crafted from locally sourced materials. Bamboo frames, open air rooms, and a beautiful rainwater shower give an incredible feel of no-frills luxury, and all the satisfaction of sustainable living and sense of doing good for the planet. Every effort has been made to live in harmony with the natural surroundings. All soaps and shampoos are 100% natural, and all water is collected from rainfall. There’s no electricity, no air conditioning and no TVs. Instead, small solar powered generator lights, the natural breeze from the ocean, and an incredible floor to ceiling view of the jungle.

Relax your way, whether that’s with a yoga class on the deck, reading in a hammock, or taking a dip in the rainwater pool. Fresh fruit juices and homemade lemonades will keep you feeling refreshed throughout the day, and there’s plenty on the menu to try when you get hungry. Make sure you’re around to watch the sunset, as the sky seems to put on a show every single night.

Listen to the symphony of cicadas as they sing in harmony, with a mesmerising crescendo and synchronised end to the piece. Fall asleep to the sounds of the leaves blowing lightly in the wind. There’s something so comforting about sleeping beneath a mosquito net within an open air room, and waking up with the sunrise as the morning light brings the jungle to life.

The Island Hideout are proud to have started a number of projects that support the local community. The staff team, who feel more like family, all live locally on the island. Hideout is supporting them to learn English and other new skills, as well as supporting the community through buying everything locally, including handmade place mats, robes and soaps.

The Hideout chef is an fantastically talented lady, who cooks traditional cuisine to an impeccable standard. The local prawn curry is to die for, and the unique twists on traditional dishes make for an even more memorable experience.

Take a walk through the jungle trail to the secret Hideout beach, an untouched haven of warm turquoise water and soft sandy beach, the edges shaded by overhanging palm trees. Hideout’s beach clean-up project entices you to fill a trash bag with washed up plastics whilst you’re there. Bring it back up to the Hideout and they’ll thank you with an amazing cocktail on the house. Do your bit for the planet and get a cocktail - win win!

The saying “it’s the people that make a place” stands all too relevant at The Island Hideout. What is already an incredible property and experience is further enhanced because of the beautiful people who work there. Not only that, but the Hideout seems to draw people who all have a shared appreciation for nature, for adventure, and for relaxation.
